Falko Konditormeister Feinbackerei (3♥) is a German bakehouse that has a justly deserved great name for gutsy breads, fruity flans and sticky tortes to name just some of their goodies.

We've sampled flat whites and cappuccini and found them to be good. Their blend has a bitterness that works quite well with the invariably sweet cake or torte that you can't help but have.

The service is friendly and they have a big regular clientele. Their coffee blends are apparently tailored exclusively for them. I was informed that they have lighter blend for lattes and a stronger blend for espressos.

It operates as a shop and as a cafe with tables inside and out in Bruntsfield and also pitches up stalls at a number of markets including the Edinburgh Farmers Markets on Saturday mornings at Castle Terrace.
